The current QA process for the building industry doesn't clearly identify critical failure points on site. The current consenting and inspection process is also time consuming and costly. Currently paper forms and checklists are used to validate conclusions reached on site. Through better collection of evidence we can greatly improve the quality of New Zealand builds, saving time and reducing technical error.

We designed a workforce application by consolidating various build-specific checklists from different councils into a single source of truth; enabling Licenced building practitioners and contractors to capture evidence of compliance & workmanship in real time and submit it to council for inspection.

The approach involved extensive consultation with key stakeholders from Auckland City Council as well as various stakeholders across the building industry and was underpinned by comprehensive customer research and feedback.

The end solution includes a desktop application that serves as a review platform where council members can easily identify key failure points. Builders are able to easily manage their workflow on-site by using a mobile app; all evidence is time coded with a record of the GPS location. Property owners also have real time visibility of every aspect of the build at their fingertips.
